Many visitors to Gettysburg do not realize . . .
The three-day battle was fought
in the streets of the town –
and not just the area now designated as
the National Military Park.

The Grave Digger Tours offer Gettysburg visitors three unique historic walking tours.

The Aftermath tour, our original tour, describes the horrors the townspeople of Gettysburg faced as they were forced to deal with the dead and dying Union and Confederate soldiers, as well as their animals, littering the streets of the town and the surrounding farms.

The Irish of Gettysburg tour tells the inspiring stories of the Irish soldiers who served at Gettysburg during the Civil War. Discover the men of the Irish Brigade, the Gettysburg citizens of Irish descent who lived through the battle, and the Louisiana Tigers of the Confederacy.

The Women of Gettysburg tour highlights the little-known and the well-known stories of ordinary women who rose to the challenges brought by a 3-day battle fought on their streets, from their homes, on their farms, and in the fields and forests outside Gettysburg.

All tours feature the eyewitness accounts of the men and women who lived through this most famous of all American Civil War battles and wrote of their experiences in letters and diaries.

Your guide will lead you through historic streets where skirmishes between Union and Confederate soldiers were fought, and homes sustained battle damage – houses still scarred by bullet holes.

Cameras are welcome!
