Do I need to reserve tickets ahead of time?

We strongly recommend reserving tickets ahead of time. You may reserve tickets in any of the following ways ~

We will ask for credit card information to reserve tickets. Please have this information ready when you call the Great T Shirt Company.

You may purchase tickets right before the tour begins if tickets are available.

Are the tours suitable for my children?

We have had children of all ages on our tours.

“The Aftermath Tour” is the most graphic, and we discuss medical procedures of the time period, the ways soldiers died, and how they were buried. Pictures taken after the battle are shown, but always given to the parents first, so they can decide if they are suitable for their children to view.

Our other tours, “The Irish of Gettysburg” and “The Women of Gettysburg” are more family-friendly tours.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we are “pet friendly”, and pets on leashes are very welcome.

How much walking is involved?

“The Aftermath” tour and “The Irish of Gettysburg” tour are approximately six blocks.

“The Women of Gettysburg” is slightly longer, about six and a half blocks long. There are limited places to sit down.

Where can I park my car?

Free parking is available after 5 pm in the parking lot of the WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, located at 147 Gettys Street, behind Steinwehr Avenue.

Metered parking is also available along Steinwehr Avenue in front of The Great T Shirt Company, as well as nearby Baltimore Street.

What should I wear?

Please check the weather forecast to determine if you need light clothes, or a jacket or sweater. We recommend shoes or sneakers rather than sandals or flip flops.

What if it rains?

This is an all-outside activity. If we have light rain or drizzle, the tour will proceed as scheduled. We have rain ponchos for sale at The Great T-Shirt Company, as well as umbrellas you can borrow for the evening.

If we have heavy rain or a thunderstorm, the tour will be rescheduled. If you cannot reschedule, we will offer a refund of the ticket price.

Are tours available during the day?

Yes. To schedule a daytime tour, please call or eMail at least one day before you would like a tour, to insure a tour guide is available.

I bought tickets, but my plans changed. What are my options?

Your tickets are transferable to a tour at another time, for any reason, but you must contact us before the time of your original tour.

We will issue you an “Anytime Ticket” you can use at a later date, even on another trip to Gettysburg. You must schedule your “Anytime Ticket Tour” at least one day ahead of time to insure we have a guide available.

What if I am late?

We will give you directions to our designated “Pick-up Spot”, where you can join the tour already in progress. After the tour, your guide will take you to the stops you missed and tell all the stories included in the tour. You will not miss a thing.

Should I tip the tour guide?

Tips are greatly appreciated. They show that you liked the tour and appreciate the extra effort of your guide to make the tour a great experience.

Tips can be given to your guide at the end of the tour or dropped off at the Great T-Shirt Company.

Will I see a ghost?

Our tours are historically-based tours, not ghost tours. We have never had a ghost appear on any of our tours, so far.
